Today's guest on the show is Clayton Patterson. Clayton is a documentarian, an artist, a historian and staple of the Lower East Side. In this episode we talk about how to survive as an artist, the Clayton Cap, the 80s, the forgotten ones, citizen surveillance, documenting history and the Tompkins Square Park police riots.

Today’s episode is very, very special to me. Today’s guest on the show is Phade of the Mighty Shirt Kings.

If you’ve a been a long time listener, then you’ve heard me speak about Phade and the Shirt Kings about a dozen or so times in previous episodes.

Before I even knew I was a creative or before I was into art like that, I was into the the work of Phade.

If you’re not familiar with Phade or the Shirt Kings, you are, you just don’t know you are. Whenever you see any airbrushed Disney or popular cartoon character drenched in hip hop culture on a shirt, you’re seeing the influence of Phade and the Mighty Mighty Shirt Kings.

If you’ve ever seen LL Cool J, Biz Markie, Bell Biv Devoe, Pusha T or anyone from the ASAP Mob rocking airbrushed anything, I’m certain it was done by Phade or one of the many members of the Shirt Kings crew.

Phade and I recorded this in Harlem, right there in Marcus Garvey park. There will be birds chirping, cars honking and probably some sirens but that’s New York Said.

I’m out of here, enjoy!
